MS4 ( Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System)

The Municipalities that are designated as MS4 must develop a SWPPP addressing the six Minimum Control Measures. The six are as follows;  1.) Public Education and Outreach, 2.) Public Participation and Involvement, 3.) Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination, 4.) Construction Site Stormwater Runoff, 5.) Post Construction Stormwater Management, 6.) Pollution Prevention Good Housekeeping.  Each of the Minimum Control Measures has specific items that must be addressed in the SWPPP.  At a minimum, 35 sub items must be addressed.  Some municipalities are required to develop additional Minimum Control Measure to address specific water quality related issues within their jurisdiction.

Red Barn Ridge has helped communities meet their requirements by helping them develop a SWPPP and developing the enforcement processes and tools.  Red Barn Ridge has been contracted by a number of communities to conduct the required compliance inspections, documentation, and educational training and seminars.

Many communities are under significant financial pressures.  Red Barn Ridge can help by supplying the much needed expertise only when its needed.  This can result in significant saving for a municipality.  The documentation system that we utilize is easily transferable and very visible to staff.   Red Barn Ridge has been working throughout MN so we are very familiar with differing needs and approaches of many communities.
